The Faculty - Dates - Application

The 2008 Spoleto Jazz Workshop will be an intensive program of composition and performance, focusing on the concept of chamber jazz, where improvisation and spontaneity are foremost. Applicants on all instruments and voice are welcome. Music writing and sight-reading skills are highly recommended. It is expected that workshop participants will create and perform new works and/or adaptations specific to Spoleto Jazz Workshop ensembles formed for the occasion. Students are invited from all countries. A background in jazz and music studies are essential for this professional-level workshop.

OFFERINGS INCLUDED IN TUITION ARE:

• Daily master classes with our faculty
• Coachings: scheduled in combination with lessons and individual sessions
• Public performances: student participation in jazz concerts in Spoleto and Umbria and in spectacular locations
• Continental breakfast at your residence every morning
• Housing: Participants will reside in the recently renovated San Carlo Borromeo Hotel or in apartments if accompanied by family members and/or friends, all pre-arranged only by SAS and priced accordingly
• Kid's Camp available for children of participants and priced by length of stay
• Meals: All participants will have the pleasure of eating a delicious lunch in one of Spoleto's finest restaurants on working days, organized by SAS. Participants will be free to make their own arrangements for dinner. Receptions and parties following selected concerts are also included in tuition
• All local ground transportation as it relates to our concerts and activities
• Tuition for 2008: 950 Euro.
